According to a recent study, Litecoin became the second most common means of payment on the darknet market.

The study, conducted by Recorded Future, includes an analysis of 150 leading forums, trading platforms and other similar darknet sites, and set out to find out how popular the altcoyins are in darknet after the bitcoin has increased the commission for transactions.
The insane growth in the popularity of bitcoin among ordinary users, speculators and institutional investors since mid-2017 has led to a significant increase in the load on the Bitcoin network, which in turn has led to an increase in the transaction fee.
According to the results of the research, Litecoin is the second most popular crypto currency in darknet. About 30% of all sites, accept this crypto currency.

Despite the fact that Recorded Future claims that in the cyber-criminal circles since mid-2016 there has been growing dissatisfaction with bitcoin as a means of payment, 100% of the sites studied are receiving bitcoin.
Growth of popularity of Monero (XMR)
The study also shows a significant increase in the popularity of XMR on English-language platforms. On the eastern European sites, the popularity of Monero is much lower.
On English platforms Monero was the second most popular means of payment, while with XMR employs about 15% of English-language platforms. LTC is on the third place among English-language sites with 11%, then goes DASH and ETH: 9% for each of the Crypto-currency.
On Eastern European sites Litecoin became the second most popular crypto currency, with 35% of sites accepting payments in LTC. DASH is in 3rd place with 24%, followed by BCH with 15%, ETH – 9%, ZEC – 4% and XMR – 3%.
